PRODUCTIVITY DEFINITION

A measure of the efficiency of a person, machine, factory, system, etc., in converting inputs into useful outputs. Productivity is computed by dividing average output per period by the total costs incurred or resources (capital, energy, material, personnel) consumed in that period. Productivity is a critical determinant of cost efficiency.

Logging on to social media costs the U.S. economy $650 billion! That’s $4500 per worker each year!

RECOMMENDATIONS

REARRANGE YOUR APPS

Sort your apps into three categories: Primary tools, aspirations, and slot machines. Primary tools help you accomplish tasks like getting a ride and finding a location. Aspirations are what you want to spend time doing like reading or listening to podcasts. Slot machines are the apps you get lost in like email and social media.

SLOW DOWN EMAIL PING PONG

Delay responses to emails, use apps to delay the sending of your emails. Before sending, ask yourself when’s the latest this person needs a reply?

STOP NOTIFICATIONS

Limit the amount of notifications you receive, audible and visible interruptions help you lose focus and distract you from being productive.

NEVER OPEN THE SAME EMAIL MORE THAN TWICE

Refrain from reading the same email over and over again because it only wastes time. Read it once when received and read it again when you are replying. Also, delete or archive all emails that don’t require a response.
